Euphora
Problem Nº 03 of 10
§ Field Problem · Nº 03 Dishwasher-Safe

“I need a sticker that
survives the dishwasher.

The most punishing repeat-use environment for any label. Heat, abrasion, alkaline detergent and silverware impact, fifty or a hundred times. Only one substrate-ink combination really works.

The Euphora scale

Levels,
measured not marketed.

Manufacturers love absolute claims. We made a scale because “dishwasher-safe” means different things in different jobs. Pick the level your job actually requires.

Field Notes

Questions we
get most weeks.

Q. 01
Why won't vinyl work in the dishwasher?
PVC vinyl softens at 70 °C — most dishwasher cycles exceed that. The label deforms and the adhesive plasticises.
Q. 02
Can I use inkjet print on PET for dishwasher?
Inkjet ink doesn't bond permanently with PET; it will fade and wash off after a few cycles. Specify UV-cure ink.
Q. 03
What about baby bottle labels?
PET with UV-cure ink at Level 3 is the standard for baby and sippy bottles. Verify food-contact approval if the label touches the contents.
Q. 04
Do I need commercial-grade?
Only for industrial environments — restaurants, hotels, healthcare. Domestic dishwashers don't need it.
