Label film service temperature ranges

Label films differ widely in heat tolerance: BOPP runs −20 to +93 °C (not for hot-fill above ~80 °C), PET −40 to +150 °C (the durable workhorse), PVC vinyl −20 to 90 °C, and metallized film −70 to 150 °C including hot-fill at 85–95 °C. For a bottle that gets hot, reach for PET or metallized, not BOPP.

How to read it

→Pick the film by heat exposure first. For a hot-fill line (85–95 °C) use PET or metallized film — BOPP distorts above ~80 °C.
→For extreme heat (electronics, PCB, engine-bay), step up to polyimide (Kapton), which handles far higher temperatures than any of these films.
→Cold tolerance is rarely the limiter for these films — the adhesive is. Below −40 °C, specify a freezer-grade adhesive regardless of the facestock.

What label film survives a hot-fill line?
